• A Slipping Clutch which gives the feeling that the engine is revving but the vehicle is not accelerating properly is normally caused by a worn out centre plate (although it can also be caused by an oil leak from the gearbox or engine).
• Very difficult to change gear/gears very stiff to engage (particularly first and second gears). This is normally caused by a worn out or collapsed clutch cover. This means that the clutch doesn't fully disengage the engine from the gearbox and it makes the syncro hubs in the gearbox stiff as they cannot easily compensate for this.
• A grinding or droning noise when the clutch pedal is depressed usually indicates a worn or collapsed clutch release bearing. This can cause damage to the clutch cover and lead to similar symptoms to the previous item.
